Does travel broaden the mind, or merely create a new set of problems for a different set of people?
I expect the answer to that question is a bit of both, but cultural differences are important and the recognition of their significance can be made much plainer if one has direct experience of their impact. A long sentence that tries to explain why others have difficulty living and let live. If the particular cultural difference from the norm promotes inhumanity, in the guise of respected and long established tradition, intolerance might be just the right reaction.
How then do we reconcile a set of values by which all humanity should conform and the freedom to express cultural diversity?
There must be a book or research grant in it.
