How could I forget Jacques Derrida’s name? Algerian by birth, Jewish by heritage, and an extraordinary philosopher. Someone who got up the noses of traditional academics, so that an honorary title which was his due, was withheld.
If philosophy has as one of its goals the search for truth, Derrida has to be considered. It is not enough to fix on a central point, some imagined bullseye where the truth lives, and keep driving towards it relentlessly ignoring the bullseyes all around you. It is worth considering that not everything is bipolar, on off, right wrong, black white. The shades of truth, meaning and the multiple interpretations of narrative are not only relevant, but fascinating in their complexity.
Vive la différance.
