Culls

The summit meeting came to order after a lively debate about culling. The giraffes had argued that the human gene pool was becoming concentrated around the few oligarchs who dominate their tribes through economic advantage. Several felines objected to repeated use of the expression ‘fat cats’  pointing out that human obesity was more common. The bigger cats didn’t know what all the fuss was about. If the tables were turned, human cruelty to all animal species was well known. They had it coming.

Those humans not in the wild had outlived their usefulness, according to the rodents who voted unanimousely  to feed them to the reptiles and snakes. The chief python voted to accept their responsibilities in human corpse disposal. Badgers expressed the view that the restoration of a natural order to the planet could only be achieved by restoring the ecological balance. If that meant the widespread cull of humans, then so be it. The dogs and cats argued that some humans could be domesticated, if only to carry out menial tasks and save more intelligent species from the drudgery of modern living.
