Now that the summer holidays are imminent, I feel the need to broaden my horizons. So I have signed up for a course that should make the issues surrounding Scottish independence clearer. The University of Edinburgh are running the course via Future Learn.
There is so much political hype being broadcast on the news that it is hard to get a handle of the real pros and cons of independence for Scotland.
My own rather uninformed view is that European nations should strengthen their bonds to each other, and the Union is one such bond. There have to be economies of scale in the administration of common public services for Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and England.
Beyond that, I know very little about the detailed plans for independence and the costs to Scottish/UK tax payers.
