Yes, there are people who disagree about the merits of shellfish. I love mussels, crabs, langoustines, lobsters, sea snails (boules), prawns, oysters; in short, I cannot think of any shellfish that I would turn my nose up to.

Scallops are so popular with TV chefs and restaurants hereabouts that premium prices are paid for them. Now I like a scallop or two, but I would not be prepared to go to war over them. Unlike the English and French fishing fleets, who have been battling it out in La Manche over the alleged overfishing of scallops living underwater somewhere nearer France than their EU neighbour, England.

This Brexit malarkey has folk at each other’s throats already, drawing borders in the sea.  Economic co-operation has to be the preferred option globally to sort out scarce resources and a growing population.

Obviously, if you start scrapping trade agreements and backing out of economic communities, life becomes uncertain and fairness is in short supply.
