E biking

My son collected my new Boardman ebike from Halfords. No user manual so we just had to work out the Fazua remote settings for ourselves.

I think I’ve got the hang of it. The more you pedal the greater the assistance if you want it. The LED display gives you bars that are either red, green or blue.

The battery is quite heavy, but the frame is light, so carrying the bike is not too onerous. I’m going to buy a more comfortable saddle which will make longer rides less chaffing. That and padded shorts, even if they make me feel like I’m wearing a nappy.

There’s an app called Fazua Rider that gives you all kinds of stats, but I haven’t used it yet.

Well, how foolish am I? The remote works off the battery and guess what? The battery needs charging.

There are three modes: Breeze which is green and gives gentle assistance, River is blue and gives a bit more and finally Rocket is red and offers maximum power for fast peddling with assistance.

Riding the bike without motor assistance is fine, plenty of gears for most gradients. No panier frame or mudguards yet.

The battery’s charged and the saddle is now swapped and ready for my next tootle.
