Weak Woke Excuse

“What we fail to value, we fail to protect.” This quote from NZ author, Olivia Pierson’s amazon page would suggest that she respects the culture of her native New Zealand.

Why did she tweet that facial tattoos on the new NZ Foreign Minister, Nanaia Mahuta, were “ugly and uncivilised”? Does she have so little understanding or respect for Maori culture that she thought that her comments were inoffensive?

Or is it just the racist barb one finds all over the world from opinionated white people trying to impose their values on other cultures?

Perhaps we should remind her of something she wrote in her pocket guide to philosophy “If you get in the habit of telling untruths, cheating, giving in to laziness, or treating yourself and others in a disrespectful way, you will not earn high esteem…if you know you haven’t acted honourably, you won’t feel proud of who you are.”
