It comes as no surprise that democracy’s greatest champion is a duck, or rubber duck to be precise.Thai protesters facing water canon and teargas improvised shields with giant rubber ducks they had brought with them as a joke.
At a further rally other ducks flocked to their comrades’ side and were held aloft, just as heroes should be.
These self-sacrificing ducks offered protection to the protesters from the Thai police’s water blasts that were laced with chemical irritants.
It is anticipated that the protests against the excessive power of the Thai monarchy will continue, and that the police will not shrink from using fowl tactics against the protesters and their ducks.
