Turning a thing on its head can be amusing, but mostly you just get the opposite. Subvert a revolution, and give birth to a dictator. Start an uprising, overturn the old order, and get a new order with all the idealism and passion of those wet behind the ears, and ready to be subverted and exploited in turn by the pragmatists, or old hands, who realise that power ebbs and flows. Propaganda is king, the little knowledge, the sound-bite that wins elections or creates a climate of fear/hatred.
