Short and sweet. Sometimes a short break is just as reviving as a longer stay and this was only 4 days in leafy Surbiton. As I drink my orange and mango juice and reflect on my visit, I crammed quite a lot in. A luncheon with my old mucker Kevin was pleasantly boozy, the Antelope and its rebirth with a micro brewery in the offing (The Big Smoke Brewery), a long walk with my brother along the Thames from Kingston to Hampton Court – only some of it captured in pictures – all add up to a very enjoyable holiday.
The icing on the cake is that my mother didn’t have to stay long in hospital and was home to preside over dinner arrangements, minor DIY jobs and errands.
