Football madness

footie team 4.09.15Yesterday evening I foolishly volunteered my services for 5-a-side football to raise money for a worthy charity. Our team consisted of Jonny, a fine dribbler, Michael our goal scorer (who I substituted) Stephen (impressive in goal), Conor, another dribbler and David who attempted some fancy moves, some of which came off.

Adopting a minimum effort, zonal defensive position, I felt sure my body could take it. All was fine, three 10 minute games played, very few goals conceded and I was feeling upbeat about my cycle home.

At the local shop I stopped off to buy milk and my right knee did something weird, like it wasn’t attached to the rest of my leg. Using the shopping trolley, I hobbled around the aisles and all seemed bearable.

When I got home the same thing happened. It may require a visit to my GP to see what’s wrong. There were some twinges before the footie, but I’m sure it didn’t help (particularly playing in loafers).

I had little sympathy from the family, and room service was provided as usual.
