Stevie Wonder sang Happy Birthday to mark the day Martin Luther King was born, a very upbeat version of the dreary song we all try to make jolly for our loved ones.
The racist assassin that took Dr King’s life protested his innocence after his conviction, recanting his confession. He had pleaded guilty to avoid a jury trial and the death penalty.
The 60s was a decade of revolutionary changes in society. Those brave leaders of movements for change risked everything in their quest for a fairer world. We are the beneficiaries of their courage.
Happy birthday Dr King and thank you.
