Last night we ventured out to the Crescent Arts Theatre arriving a wee bit late for the start of Closer. We were asked to come back about 8:30 pm during the intermission, so we went to the nearest bar and kicked our heels for a bit.

When we returned, the play resumed with the main character facing a woman he knew in ‘real life’ who was doing a lap dance. It was soft on the eyes and the dialogue was interesting enough, so I stayed awake despite the g and t’s with DC at Laverys earlier in the day.

I had been out on the town doing a bit of bike shopping and then found myself near the Harp bar before 11:30 (opening time). The decor is very like the nearby Dark Horse bar, gleaming metal everywhere from the table tops to the bar itself and old advertising  paraphernalia all over the wall spaces. The bar staff didn’t mind me taking photos and the boss even took a photo of me pretending to pull a pint of the dark stuff. All very gemütlich and hospitable.

I went back to where I had locked my bike, and there it was – gone. After some moments of doubt, had I perhaps locked it somewhere else, I walked back where I had been that morning: Lidl, the streets near the Albert clock and concluded that I had indeed locked it outside the John Hewitt.

The woman at the police station took down the details and issued me with a crime reference number. I’m not sure it’s going to be worth claiming on the insurance, so it’s a good job that I hadn’t paid much for it or done much to it since buying it from Austin.
