The beauty of chance encounters is the rich pool of other people’s experiences that just happen to come your way. It was my good fortune to meet a couple of people having a leisurely glass of wine at House on Botanic. The gentleman was reared in Belfast but now lives in Scotland. His education at one of Belfast’s top grammar schools exposed him to bullying.
The details of his life were recounted expertly, demonstrating his skills as a seasoned communicator and teacher for many years. His Scottish wife didn’t say much, but was happy to make the odd enquiry after my own upbringing and current circumstances.
