I have no idea why 41 people in Finland had a look at my nonsense this week, .but I hope they found something of interest. My Muse has been absent for a while, but self-discipline has always been a weakness and serious writing needs commitment.
Luckily, my writing lacks seriousness.
I occasionally get worked up about human rights and how they can be openly broken by the more dictatorial nations around the world. The torture and murder of a journalist by the Saudis, the sentence of the lash for apostacy for a pregnant woman and the “re-education” of thosands of Muslims in a prison camp in China are but a few of the stories exposed by the world’s press. The resurgence of fascist right wing politics so soon after the downfall of the Third Reich and Stalin’s dictatorship is frightening. Dog eat dog is not a positive move for the canine population and lacks vision for the 21st century.
But enough politics, there was the Superbowl to distract us and the unusual dilemma of people shying away from the chance to entertain millions at the half-time show.
The strategy of the Rams and Patriots was not to everyone’s liking. The defensive teams were amazing. Brady intercepted…unheard of. A low point scoring game witb one touchdown, not my prediction. And yet I still made a lucky bet that has kept me in funds to put on my comfort bets for the Six Nations rugby championship.
My mum will be 90 next month, and as well as planning the celebrations, our family will be helping her plan changes to provide the enhancēd care that she now needs.
