Norway has its explorers, brave men who withstood extreme conditions in order to discover something new about our planet.
Polar expeditions were particularly dangerous and the voyages of Amundsen legendary. The ship Fram was used for journeys to find the North West passage and reach the North and South poles.
The Fram museum allows you to get a feel for what it would be like to be part of the crew. You board the ship which is enveloped in a white canvas tent. On the canvas are projected footage of stormy seas and film of the Fram trapped in shifting ice.
After our adventure we headed back into central Oslo for a meal. The Bighorn Steakhouse cooked our steaks to perfection as we discussed our own adventure to the Southern hemisphere. The crew were nervous about the journey… gentle persuasion might be needed.
