I just had to listen to a load of old tosh on local radio from some pillock who doesn’t get it.

He took issue with the words “Black Lives Matter” claiming that it marginalised the black community and that we should be saying that all lives matter.

Not only did he miss the point that it’s not “Only Black Lives Matter”, but he failed to acknowledge a sense of injustice, prejudice and outrage at the violence inflicted on people because of their skin colour. When it is the police inflicting the violence and causing the deaths of black people, the outrage is heightened.

I applaud those who stand up for equality, diversity and human rights.  Those who ignore the prejudice in their own communities, and claim that there is not a reason to campaign for people of colour in solidarity with black people all over the world, have a very peculiar worldview.

When a serving police officer kills a man already in handcuffs by kneeling on his kneck and suffocating him, and his fellow officers do nothing to restrain him, outrage and protest are the very least we can expect.
