It is ridiculously early to be so organised, but this is a funny old year. Direct marketing doesn’t usually influence me. Usually, special offers go straight in the bin, but a flyer from a local jewellers offering £50 off purchases over £200 caught my eye. I looked at their website and was drawn to a Men’s Certina watch.

The RRP is over £500, so I got myself a bargain…maybe. The last time I bought a Certina watch I was at a shop in the Basel duty free area. I had miscalculated the exchange rate, and ended up handing over all the cash in my possession, which was probably less than £50. Thank goodness I was on the return flight to London.
Sparks, or M&S, have got their Christmas food online and I jumped in again and ordered turkey, gammon, pigs in blankets and vegetables, but not just any vegetables…. We have to collect, but that’s usual with fresh turkey orders.
Our firefighter son is on the guest list, but we don’t know how that will work if we are self-isolating. I am not having Christmas dinner outside, although mulled wine or mulled cider is best quaffed alfresco.
