Mulled wine recipe

1 bottle of red wine

1 orange sliced into rounds

8 whole cloves

2 cinnamonn sticks

2 star anise

2-4 tablespoons of honey or sugar or syrup

1/4 cup of brandy or rum or cognac (optional)

Mix all the ingredients in a large pan.

Cook until just on the point of boiling, turn heat to low, cover and let simmer gently for 15 minutes to 3 hours.

Sieve and serve.
