Start of term is always an exciting time. Escorted from our homes by helpful officials we travelled to our re-education college. Some of us had speculated that being Muslim was at the heart of our need for re-education.
But that can’t be right. In our democratic republic we must be free to believe what we believe. Otherwise our government is no better than Nazis or the Spanish Inquisition, persecuting people for their religion. Re-education must be some benevolent scheme for equipping us with marketable skills to help us prosper in our new economic order.
As we approached the college gates we had some inkling of what lay ahead…
