The art of slow

I stumbled upon a lovely wee book in a cavern of a second hand bookshop called The Philosophy of Slowness…. or something similar.

Needless to say, I took my time chewing over the words. Now I can’t find the book on our reorganised shelves, so my need for slowness has accelerated.

Living with boredom is part of most people’s experience. How to handle the mundane takes some skill. An acquaintance advised me to look beyond the tasks themselves to find something of interest.

That was good advice. If I found myself beside the MFD otherwise know as a shared photocopier/printer, I would look at the pages not collected and marvel at the lack of security as I perused the breakdown of staff who were Catholic, and those who renounced the true faith. I am kidding just in case you wondered.

Boredom can be a bit zen. If you embrace the stillness in your brain activity, time floats by with equanimity.
