I booked my ebike in for it’s first service since buying it from Halfords about a year ago.
Belfast Bicycle Workshop (owned by Austin) have been looking after my bikes for the last twenty years. Their service is excellent and they take the time to discuss any issues or options with their customers.
During the service they discovered three loose bolts that held the motor in place and one missing bolt. It could have proved disastrous if I had been off on one of my jaunts and the motor dropped out.
Unfortunately, this type of poor attention to detail is all too common with Halfords. They told me initially that the Boardman hybrid bike that I had paid over £2,000 for did not have a manual. It took two more visits before a competent member of their staff found a manual for me.
Austin replaced the bolts and recommended a six monthly service. I am lucky to have found a professional bicycle engineer who really knows his stuff and someone I can call a valued friend.
