It’s probably a bit silly responding to my blog stats geographically. Silliness has never stood in my way, in fact, it offers me encouragement.

I rarely get loads of people reading my blog posts, but that doesn’t deter me from rambling on about a wide range of topics. This week about 20 of you Americans found something of interest on my blog. I’ve no idea what, except to say you are probably not part of that group who looked at the Schrödinger and Heidegger nonsense that I posted some time ago.

The philosopher Michel de Montaigne is my hero. Not that I can aspire to his genius, but I justify my rambling prose by reference to his Essays which covered anything from cannibalism to how to cope with pain. He also served as Mayor of Bordeaux when Catholics and Protestants were fighting the bit out.

President Biden is faced with similar polarisation. Those who use Freedom as a battering ram to bust down perceived bastions of corrupt politicians, and conversely democratic representatives struggling to do right by their electorates.

Someone once said there is no such thing as Society…it certainly wasn’t Michel de Montaigne
