Using my 60+ card I am off to Dublin on the Enterprise train for free. A great chance to catch up with my reading for my course.

Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is interesting for is depiction of a mean old man oblivious to the plight of the urban poor who surround him. Maybe not oblivious, but certainly unsympathetic.
My assignment is to describe how Dickens would have prepared for a public reading of this work. He was a renowned performer and toured extensively.
My own experience of performing in public is limited to one open mic poetry night and many readings at work of poems I wrote for colleagues’ birthdays and leaving dos. I did not prepare for those performances, but they might have been better if I had.
