Playing catch up, but getting there. There is an interesting discussion in my cluster group forum that suggests research topics, and then asks how you would carry out the research. The thread I have been following was How do babies react to loud noises?
Obviously, experiments with babies are fraught with difficulties and ethical issues. Observations in home settings might vary greatly because of the different environments, siblings, etc. A fellow student suggested that mother and toddler groups might be the way to go. My own contribution was about how you could tell if the baby had only just started going, or was well used to other babies. Access to an attendance register or asking mothers to fill in an attendance questionnaire might provide a solution. standardising the data and making sure that the research could be replicated is crucial.
