The calipso has been adopted by the Afghan government as their official approved musical genre. To celebrate this momentous decision musical instruments have been piled up and set alight. Music schools have been closed and staff laid off. This will give people the chance to develop a Caribbean patois and learn dance steps that will not be permitted in public or in private.
