This is the title of a play on at the Lyric theatre Belfast about David Irvine, a respected local politician. His journey from active UVF paramilitary to Progressive Unionist Party politician is well told in this performance by Paul Garrett.

The set is well designed allowing Paul Garrett to move up and around a construction of two open books, one on top of the other.

The life of the Irvine family is well told from David’s arrest in charge of a car filled with explosives, to his meeting with Gusty Spence in the Maze prison and his representation of working class Protestants.

The Lyric performances were a sell out and the play will now go on tour. Paul Garrett paid tribute to David’s widow, Jeanette and the McElhinney family for their support.
