Another academic year with the Open University. This year I am taking Exploring Philosophy, at undergraduate level. My first task was to think about a study timetable and calculate how many hours I have available in the average working week.
Organisational skills will be important, not just for my studies, but also for domestic harmony. As a retired person in a working household, it falls on me to be head cook, and the person in charge of our laundry.
Roles which I embrace with variable enthusiasm. The cooking is usually ok, but collecting and washing everyone else’s dirty clothes goes against the grain. In fine weather we are fortunate to have a garden long enough to stretch washing lines that accommodate sheets.
In my cups I ventured into a local butchers asking for lamb shanks.!I then blathered on about Irish people preferring leg joints to shoulder joints and how hard it was to obtain nvenison.
