Life without my phone has been mostly tolerable. I was in no great rush to have the charging port repaired over the holidays, but normal life has resumed and being able to use apps to book taxis, find out about public transport, the weather has become more important.

Music took a back seat for a while mostly because I have been neglecting my studies yet again, and when the textbooks are out the headphones go on. The familiarity of my first playlist does not pose too much of a distraction when considering utilitarianism.

If I consider the value of the pleasure and enjoyment experienced by listening to my choice of music weighed against any diminution of that pleasure in trying to concentrate on Bentham and Mill, the music is more beneficial to my wellbeing than it’s absence.
