Stormont back

Just two years after the DUP first boycotted the Stormont assembly and stalled power sharing, they are back. The DUP were holding out for a beater deal on Brexit and the scrapping of the border in the Irish Sea.

Other MLAs are not happy with the new deal and Sir Jeffery Donaldson might not remain the head of his party for long. The First Minister is Michelle O’Neill, deputy leader of Sinn Fein. A historic victory for nationalists secured Michelle O’Neil and her party’s majority at Stormont.

Civil servants and public sector workers will be urging ministers to settle their pay claims. Voters will be wondering when the next crisis will cause another Stormont boycott.
