Western bias

I often wonder who is reading my blog and have a look at the statistics by country. It would seem that my readership is almost exclusively from Western countries

I appreciate feedback and shamelessly handed over my phone to a new acquaintance with the odespinner page displayed.

She liked the rhythm of one or two of my poems, but thought that my poem about a woman arrested for apostasy called No Rhyme, was in danger of adopting a Western attitude of superiority

I had another look at that poem and see what she was getting at. The difficulty with criticising other cultures and their religious practices is that emotions are heightened and insult can be felt when none was intended.

A woman in Sudan raised Christian charged with adultery because she didn’t have an Islamic marriage and found guilty of apostasy. Whip her and then put her to death? People need to speak out when that sort of infringement of human rights occurs.
