Flatpack garden furniture

We finally got some rattan style furniture and a glass-topped table. Knowing my lack of manual skills I asked our youngest to give me a hand.

Two large cardboard boxes were delivered. Curiosity got the better of me and I opened the glass-topped table box. It looked easy enough so I screwed away with the Allen key and carefully lifted the smokey glass into place. Our sun umbrella slotted in neatly. Why were there four small bolts and washers left over?

All became clear when I opened the other box that contained the list of parts and assembly instructions. The four bolts were for a round bracket that would anchor the four table legs. No round bracket and no 16 bolts and washers for the four chairs.

Dashing off an email to the delivery company and supplier requesting replacements, I felt I had done as much as I could.

Putting the cardboard in our blue bin a small bag tied to the packaging revealed itself to be the missing 16 bolts and washers. Emailing the supplier to apologise about the found bolts spurred me on to attempt to assemble one of the chairs. Big mistake. After a lot of Twister positions I secured the seat of the chair with 3 bolts. The fourth fell out…I know when I’m beaten.
