After the farce of five Tory Prime Ministers trashing the UK economy they have the nerve to ask how the Labour government will pay for the investment in public services.
This is like a mugger worrying about how his victim will get home after he robbed him of his bus fare.
Obviously we will need a stable economy with corporations and the very rich not avoiding their tax liabilities, but acknowledging their civic responsibilities. Exorbitant wage demands won’t help to keep inflation down, but a review of public sector pay should be the minimum a Labour government puts in place.
The increased powers of local government should include the ability to raise funds for essential infrastructure projects. If private water companies can’t guarantee clean water, sewage treatment should be returned to public ownership.
Caring for the elderly and supporting families in need will need to be prioritised and if that needs a rise in taxes so be it.
