I am enjoying Carol Ann Duffy’s online poetry classes. She is an easy listen and a very good communicator. She described how she used haikus to write a poem about Dorothy Wordsworth. Its tight structure of three lines comprising 5 syllables 7 syllables and 5 syllables means that every word has plenty of work to do.
I remember seeing correspondence between Dorothy and her brother William on another OU course and was struck by the tiny writing and the use of every miniscule part of the pages. Paper was highly valued and not to be wasted.

My attempt at a haiku…
Our tree has apples
Ripening, large, green and red
Wind falls in my pan
