Aesthetics

Entering into the conceptual space created by an artist sounds a bit poncy, but all it really means is making an effort to engage with the work.

There’s a small gallery locally that has some interesting works of art. This took my fancy…

Gormley’s

My interest in art is partly due to my brother’s artistic background. He studied printmaking at school, went on to take a Bachelor’s degree in art in Kingston upon Thames and got his Masters at Chelsea School of Art.

As his younger brother, I often adopted his artistic interests. He read Sartre, Camus so I read them too. He bought lps by Jimi Hendrix, the Doors, Love and I enjoyed listening to his choice of music. When it came to art he favoured abstract art. I like abstract art, but not exclusively. I can be moved by a Caravaggio and a Rothko.

I admire the skill demonstrated by some modern artists, like this…
