When does a flag or a T-shirt become illegal? In the UK parliament has the authority to proscribe organisations such as Hezbollah and Palestine Action. By doing so, anyone showing support for those organisations is committing a criminal act.
Does that seem reasonable when the Israeli government has been accused of genocide and the children in Gaza are dying of starvation and malnutrition? Flying the Israeli flag is permitted and support for all the illegal Israeli actions against Palestinians, such as the settlement of the West Bank, is perfectly legal.
Why wouldn’t some people be clamouring for direct action against such a monstrous Israeli regime? There is no justification for the disproportionate Israeli response to Hamas’ slaughter and kidnapping of Jews on October 7th 2023.
The ex Israeli intelligence chief is quoted in the Guardian as saying that the death toll in Gaza was “necessary” as a “message to future generations” of Palestinians. If the pogroms of Jewish communities were described in those terms we would be appalled. Treating Palestinians as human animals is a frightening reminder of the Nazis dehumanisation of German Jews.
