Old age

If you were expecting a boring post about the ravages of time on human frailty, you will be disappointed. I prefer to celebrate those who ignore the labels such as senior citizen and live their lives to the full.

Who do I count among the many ‘oldies’ who epitomise living life to the full? Sheila Hancock, Giles Brandreth and Michael Caine spring to mind. Living life to the full does not have to mean bungee jumping above crocodile infested rivers or snorting mind altering chemicals at Glastonbury. Those blessed with all their faculties into their ‘twilight’ years may maximise their enjoyment of life through intellectual pursuits.

At 70, I am not as nimble as I was, but I still get enjoyment from reading and studying as well as tootling off to town on my ebike.
