OU survey

I have been asked to respond to a survey asking for my thoughts on the postgraduate course I have been on since October. I should contribute my thoughts on why I have failed to keep up with my studies.

I believe it has something to do with the course content and structure. Having studied Philosophy at undergraduate level twice I have already come across the key philosophers on the Philosophy of Mind like Nagel and Chalmers. I have studied one of Plato’s dialogues and know how to present arguments and counter arguments in an essay. All of that was done with the aid of course textbooks.

At postgraduate level, despite paying higher course fees, there are no accompanying textbooks. We are asked to find key texts online. Tutorials are all online where students type their questions and answers rather than use their microphones or cameras. The infrequent study days for classes that lump beginners in with those who know a lot more about the subject are located in England or Scotland which is not ideal if like me you live in Ireland.

So, instead of whingeing, I should have made the best of it and knuckled down. I may yet submit an assignment just for the hell of it. Consciousness and dualism is an interesting topic
