I was reunited with Mary Berry’s cookbook recently and had some ready rolled short crust pastry in the fridge. Her recipe for chicken pie with veg was easy to follow even though there was quite a lot of prep. I ran out of pastry for the top of the pie, so I improvised and put a layer of partially cooked baby potatoes on the top and grated some mature cheddar over them.
