At the meeting of some of the wealthiest nations in the world, there is an opportunity  to address the problem of global poverty. A small change in how much of rich nations’ Gross Domestic Product is set aside for foreign aid  would make a big difference to countries threatened by famine and extreme poverty.

Conflict resolution is likely to be given higher priority. The 60-day Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and the USA will give Donald Trump a chance to refocus on the Ukraine war. The European nations will probably call for greater sanctions against Russia.  It is doubtful whether they will get American support.

As usual, the poorer nations don’t have a voice at these summits, and the richer nations are all about self interest.
