We have two apple trees at each corner at the end of our garden. The one on the left was packed with apples this year, probably because of the warmer than average temperatures. The tree on the right is taller and more exposed. It’s apples wwre less plentiful, but much sweeter.

Windfall apples
I have collected apples from both trees and have decided to make apple chutney. This will be a good way of preserving the apples.
Ingredients:
1.5 kg apples, peeled and diced
750g light muscovado sugar
500g raisins
2 medium onions, finely chopped
2tsp mustard seeds
2tsp ground ginger
1tsp salt
700ml cider vinegar
Family members are suggesting I make apple crumble as well. I will check out my Mary Berry cookbook.
