My local has a pool table for a few days a week. I put my marker down to play quite often. There is definitely an air of machismo surrounding the pool table. The top dogs try to intimidate their opponents by various means.
I am quite often three sheets in the wind before I get a game. I take of my varifocals and play a cagey tactical game of pool. If I make a poot shot my opponent will invariably comment “you may put your glasses back on”;
When I’ve got my eye in I can win against most average players. But I prefer the challenge of taking on those who show a great deal of skill.
