Poetry classes

Week 3 of poetry classes at the Crescent Arts Centre. The theme has been the autumn and winter seasons. Five out of our group volunteered to read out their poems on that theme, including myself.

Horse chestnuts or conkers

Ann read her longish poem Bringing in the Sheaves that she had been working on all week. Peter read his poem about conkers, Valery read her poem Blackberries, and Louisa read her beautiful poem about a woman cooking in the kitchen watched by her dog, hoping for scraps.

Then came my turn and my poem Conkered. It got some lovely feedback from my fellow students,  but what really surprised me was the compliment from Stephanie, the leader of our group, “gorgeous amalgamation of rhythm and form.”
