Last night the BBC broadcast the Big Night In, a collaborative appeal on behalf of Children in Need and Comic Relief. Interspersed with humorous and innovative offerings by well-known comedians we were informed about those less fortunate than ourselves and asked to donate what we could.
Organisations like Unicef, Amnesty International, Medecins sans Frontieres continue to provide emergency relief all over the world. Charities must be having a tough time raising funds when most people are looking at disasters on their own doorsteps. Overworked hospitals, care workers crying out for PPEs and frightening statistics take our attention away from suffering elsewhere in the world.
Lenny Henry reminded us on the Big Night In that children across the world are dying of curable diseases, in poverty and starving. Dig deep to help them.
