Our rear garden slopes down from the patio area to where we planted a tree about 25 years ago. Then it levels off where there is a patch of grass.

We decided to level off the slope and fill it with grit and topsoil. That took ton bags of soil and grit and the whole family pitching in. Just beyond the tree, we put sleepers doubled up to form a retaining wall. A blanket of cardboard boxes flattened will keep the weeds at bay. Compost and topsoil will be planted with vegetables and native wild flowers.
