As an Englishman, I should be excited about my national football team competing in the World Cup. But as England fans know, you have to go back to 1966 for the last time England were World Champions.
Disappointment is the norm for English fans. We will be hoping this is the year when our players perform to the best of their ability. Group L is easier on paper than the Scotland group. We only have to beat Panama, Ghana, and Croatia. Scotland has Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil to overcome.
Is football coming home? I hope so.
