False Hope

I had got my hopes up that I had done enough to pass the first year of my postgraduate Philosophy course. Unfortunately, it was not to be. I needed a score of 70+ for the End of Module Assignment (EMA), but only achieved 59. I should not have been too surprised to fail the course, having submitted only half the assignments.

It’s hard to put my finger on why I get these slumps when everything seems too much trouble.  There could be a link to my blood sugar levels, but the listlessness might just be a lack of positive mental attitude.  The good thing is that I am aware of my slumps and know that I will come out of them.

Having kept away from my favourite watering hole on the Lisburn Road for a couple of months, I was given a welcome return and resumed my place on the barstool to sip an expertly made double espresso.
