As winter approaches my better half and I are looking for an interesting part-time course to study. We have left it a bit late. Most autumn courses started at the beginning of September. The BBC Maestro courses offer cooking classes by chefs like Marco Pierre White. Five and a half hours of expert tuition split into 25 classes and 24 recipes for about £79 is good value.

Face to face classes are available in Belfast either through Queen’s University Belfast and their Open Learning classes or through the Crescent Arts Centre. Face to face classes can be a good opportunity to meet people and share ideas. Alternatively there are a number of free online courses called MOOCs (Massively Open Online Courses).
I liked the language and history classes offered by Crescent Arts, but they are either full or a few weeks in. The search continues.
