Luggage can be frustrating if you are struggling to zip it up, either because you’ve tried to cram too much in or you’ve one of those zips that catches on the loose stitching around it.

My backpack has served me well for a while now, but through brute force I have broken the zip on the front pocket. Unfortunately, that is where I keep the tools of my labours: precious pens, highlight markers, spectacle cleaning liquid, and mobile phone.

Eventually, I realised that I was not going to have the zip replaced because it would be cheaper to buy a new backpack. My brand loyalty to Craghoppers was challenged when I came across a Karrimor bag in my local department store. Saying goodbye to my old backpack  will be a wrench, but the smooth action of the new zips and Karrimor’s reputation for quality will ease the pain.
